1. Indigenous Peoples Day Native American Festival

If you want to celebrate Native American Culture, attend the Indigenous Peoples Celebration. On October 8th and 9th, you can celebrate the culture on Randall’s Island. The very vibrant event will be at the Harlem River Field at Icahn Stadium.

Although there is no charge for the event, you can make a donation. As far as entertainment goes, there’s a lot to offer. You can watch indigenous dances, view artwork, and enjoy the tribal cuisine. There will be plenty of vendors for you to check out. On the first night, you can camp out on the island in your tipi or tent. The second day of the festival will feature entertainment like guest speakers, dance, and spoken word. They recommend that you bring your lawn chair for seating purposes.

2. Columbus Day Parade

Every year, the Columbus Day parade is one of the most exciting New York City fall events. If you haven’t been to one yet, it’s time you go. The event will be on October 9th. There will be about 35,000 people marching. You can view about 100 bands, floats, and other groups marching through the city streets.

The parade starts at Fifth Avenue and 47th and goes to 72nd. It’s a free event that is family-friendly. It honors the Italian-American culture that is so prevalent in the city. In fact, it honors that culture so well that the parade is the largest celebration of the culture.

3. Coney Island Film Festival

The film is an important part of New York City’s culture. At least one film festival should be on your list of New York City Fall Events. And this is one film festival worth attending. The Coney Island Film Festival earned the ranking of one of the 25 coolest film festivals by MovieMaker Magazine.

The event will occur from September 8th to September 10th. You can view the films at the Sideshows By The Seashore and the Coney Island Museum. Both locations are in Coney Island and give you a little taste of history with your film. You can buy tickets for each film. Or, buy a ticket to attend the opening night party. Last year’s party featured a Burlesque show, an open beer and wine bar, and some amazing food.

4. Edible Escape

New York City is a foodie’s paradise. And foodies have something else to rejoice about on October 19th. On the 19th, the Edible Escape will take place. The event gives you a chance to taste food from a variety of different cultures. When you attend, you can let your taste buds travel the world without stepping foot outside of the city. There will be food and drink from international restaurants, all of which were carefully selected for the event. You can taste the best of the best.

But for a taste of different cultures, Edible Escape is a must. It’s also a great way to learn what exotic destinations you should visit.

5. The Brew Hop 5K and Craft Beer Fest

Who doesn’t love running and drinking beer? The Brew Hop is an opportunity for you to combine your two favorite things in life. On October 21st, you can take place in the Randall’s Island event. Take a 5k run throughout the scenic island. Then, celebrate with several beers from over 15 breweries. To help you chase down your beers, you can enjoy food from local food trucks.

There will also be live music, pop-ups, and lawn games. Tickets start at $45, and some of the profits will go towards Oceanic Global.

6. Halloween Celebration

When fall comes, everyone looks forward to Halloween celebrations. This fall, take the kids to the American Museum of Natural History. Come in costume and have fun trick-or-treating throughout the museum. There will be magic shows, arts and crafts, music, and costumed characters.

The event will occur on October 31st. Museum members will get a discount on admission tickets.
